Zenthai Update letter from Lisa Lawton in Tokyo

Konichwa beautiful Zenthai Family.

Lisa here, typing on my computer in my little home called Taiyso (meaning Sun House), with the organic farm outside and only sound of rain droplets and the occasional footsteps passing by on their way to the train.
Incredible! as I am actually in the middle of Tokyo, completely grateful to have been offered a little sanctuary.

It is raining outside, the heater is on, as Autumn freshness is in the air, I have had a day out adventuring as it is Monday which happens to my ‘day off’. Day off from what? as ‘work’ does not feel like work, teaching Yoga is such a blessing in my life. So maybe it is a day off from having to be anywhere, at a particular time, or place. A day of freedom really.

So I catch 5 or so trains to the ocean side, the first time I have been there.. I get lost a few times, tests my patience and my trust. No particular plan, so I follow my feet and ended up seeing a 14m high Daibutsu (big Buddha), it was constructed over ten years beginning in 1252. An incredible sight and beautiful day, walking around in the cold, wet, grey Tokyo weather, giving thanks to all the shades of color in this incredible existence.

A few students and I from a Hatha Yoga Basic Course

Zen Thai has been welcomed and loved dearly, Yoga has been my main focus here, teaching 12 classes a week, but I continue to realize that it is all the same fruit, from the same tree. The response to my upcoming 4 day Zen Thai Workshop has been immense and I am so excited to share more of our art.

Tokyo living has been such a phenomenal time of pure growth, introspection, and I must say the earth has shaken under my feet a few times, literally. A time of experiencing aloneness to a depth I havn’t felt before, whilst being in one of the busiest cities in the world. A perfect chance and opportunity to practice Zen Thai Principles in my daily life – focusing on this particular moment and no other. Embracing unity within the subtelties of expression instead of a common spoken language.

Finding freedom within such a regulated place and supporting that within the studio. Listening to hear where my natural state wants to flow, and following that. Therefore creating strength within my speaking, my actions and the way I move…. from my heart, my truth, which simply….allows joy to arise.

My gorgeous friend Sol captured me in a moment of blissing out, at one of Tokyo's beautiful parks.

The place that we get to call home is such a phenomenal spot in the world, and being away from it, daily you recognize how fortunate we are. To have such a supportive community and a place for us to expand and grow at Mt. Nindery sanctuary is a true blessing. Gwyn & Gaia, my love and gratitude within every moment. See you all soon.

With love and gratitude to you all Zenthai Kula, from Tokyo.
