What is Zenthai Shiatsu ?

Zen Thai draws from the respected healing traditions of Zen Shiatsu and Traditional Thai Massage whilst using proven Osteopathic techniques

Zenthai Shiatsu is now offering  a new and updated program for 2010.

This enables students to decide whether to simply discover the Zenthai holistic  approach and the unique  techniques to integrate into their present practice or share with friends, or undertake a larger commitment towards becoming a Zenthai Therapist or Facilitator.

Program Overview

  • Level 1 and 2 : Techniques.
  • Level 3 : Combining theory with the practice.
  • Level 4 a and 4b: Western and Eastern approaches to remediation.
  • Level 5: Psychology and Consolidation.
  • Level 6: Integration. 
Graduation as a therapist.
  • Level 7 and 8: Facilitation (optional).

Level 1 Zenthai Techniques

The 4 day intensive offers everyone the springboard into Zenthai. This transformational workshop is will see you on the mat either receiving or practicing for the entire 4 days.

Level 2 Advanced Zenthai

May 6, 2010

Another practical based course. This is a follow on from level one, giving students a wide range of techniques and approaches to get confident with.
Gwyn spends every summer in a one month retreat overseas, teaching alongside Osteopaths and Thai Therapists from around the world. Therefore, this course gives Zenthai a progressive nature with inspiring updated approaches being included each year.

Level 3 Principles of Zen Shiatsu

This course introduces the theory into the art with topics including:
b oriental medicine, b key release points and meridian location, b dietary and lifestyle factors, b diagnostic tools b applying the specific techniques to rebalance the disharmony.

Level 4A Zenthai Remedial

October 7, 2010

Using primarily Zen shiatsu and osteopathic approaches to deal with clinical cases. This course takes the “Principles of Zen Shiatsu”  course to the next level offering in depth learning of:
b including point location, 
b Moxabustion, b cupping, b needle tapping, b side – position techniques, 
b remedial techniques, b Oriental Medicine revisited and much more.

Level 4B Thai Therapies

July 2011

The East take a far more holistic approach in the remediation of imbalances of the body/mind. Topics include:
b Thai foot massage, b advanced cupping and moxabustion, b herbal poultices, 
b Thai massage sequences to deal with joint problems (shoulder, hip, neck, knee, upper/lower back, digestive upsets and postural imbalances.

Level 5 Oriental Unveiled

May 2011

To see it is to free it.
This course challenges the student to the art of honest self inquiry to unravel the conditionings that may be preventing us from living to our potential. This looking within to find the answers creates a therapist that is a far more present and real listener thus encouraging others to dissolve the emotional and mental blocks that are part of a healing journey. Other topics include:
b meridan extensions, 
b 5 elements in daily life, b counselling, point therapy and ‘yoga as healing’.

Level 6 Student Clinic

November 2010

The integration of work covered, You are guided with your diagnosis and subsequent treatments as the practice is put into place by a real life practice of clients at the centre.

Level 7 Teacher facilitation

This 4 day course gives Zenthai therapists the skills and confidence to begin sharing their passion through either half day or one day workshops. This is also a great way of consolidating the work as a therapist.

Level 8 Teacher Facilitation 2

Date to be decided

This 4 day course will give Zenthai teachers the skills and material to begin administering the level one 4 day workshops.
A minimum of 5 one day workshops needs to be completed before this course can be undertaken.

General Information

  • An insurance cover is recommended at the completion of level 6 to begin practice as a therapist.
  • Repeat of a course is one third discounted.
  • Separate retreats in Laos, Bali and at the centre are encouraged to keep the fire of passion burning and allow our beginners mind to last.
  • Therapists (level 6) are entitled to be part of all level one courses (no cost), repeat courses (half price), free yoga classes and use of centre (no cost), half price for visiting teachers at the centre. ie. acro yoga, Thai sacred dance, etc.
  • Level 7 students are now offering regular classes for students to gain competence and confidence 
(available to all)
  • For students wishing accreditation recognised by the Government, the Queensland College of Oriental medicine offers a full Diploma in Zen Shiatsu. RPL (recognised prior learning) is given towards all modules offered at Mt Ninderry.
  • All courses presently are 8 week courses (one day per week) and cost is $545. Other workshops by Zenthai facilitators are encouraged to enhance the learning and can be noted as RPL (recognised prior learning)
  • Exception is Level 1..4 day intensive 
 ( $325) and Level 6.
