A piece of advice I was once given, ‘Maya, make home wherever you are’, inspires my practice of Zenthai. Through the practice of bodywork I can delve into the physical world of connection, into the richness of life to find home within each moment.

After many seasons of wilderness guiding through the unique Tasmanian landscape, I now transfer these skills into the ever changing internal landscape of the body. Focused Intention guides us as we explore through the muscles, bones, joints, organs and cells of the body. In a session with Maya one can expect a harmonising of the physical and energetic bodies.

Where can I find Maya Walker?

Home based in Lutruita/Tasmania, Maya is offering monthly clinic sessions in Sandy bay and portable sessions to your home (this requires a 3x3m open space, everything else supplied). The Zenthai Shiatsu offering extends into the Festival scene with seasonal events across Tasmania.

Please contact me via Text to arrange a session time. Or find more regular times through the Calandly Booking platform.

Maya says…

“We inhabit our bodies as we inhabit the earth. We can’t not be whole, we can’t not be connected. So… within these times of connection we allow the restoration of our natural balance and flow.

I came across Zenthai through a number of channels. Firstly through guiding and the need to heal my own body!  This profession as a Wilderness Guide demands high physical performance, mental clarity and a sense of wellbeing. After many years of pushing my limits I needed to rest and repair both my body and mind.

At a similar time I felt motivated by caring for another, a loved one with a highly sensitive nervous system and chronic tension in the body. Together we realised there is something much deeper needed, more than just a simple shoulder rub.

These two motivations added to the growing desire to learn something new, add a sprinkle of universal good luck and I found myself at the very heart of Zenthai Shiatsu.

An amazing process unfolded as I learned to bring physical and emotional repair to myself and others.

My love for exploring found a new outlet as I learned how to truly listen, to words, to the body, the nervous system, and the breath. Following the clues along the lines of intellect I moved through a diagnostics process offered by TCM.

Bringing together all these skills, now both as a guide and as a bodywork therapist.

I see the potential for bodily care, human care and a deeper connection to landscape and community.

I will also be saving 10 % of all proceeds to build a portable treatment space for future endeavours.

What others are saying:

“Maya moves with effortless flow and confident holding, reminiscent of a long time practitioner. The session was soothing and powerful and exactly what I needed. I would highly recommend this sister and her Zen Thai moves!”
— Chiara Beclu – event coordinator + artist

“Having received a Zenthai session from Maya, I immediately felt more able to move my joints feely. Furthermore the entire session was a blissful experience in which I felt almost hypnotised in a state of deep relaxation. She was incredibly knowledgeable and professional and made me feel safe and listened to. I can’t wait to receive another session when I can and I highly recommend a session to anyone struggling with either body or mind discomfort.”
— Angus Driver – Builder, 29, male.
